Crane Shot

This is from the series 'The Walking Dead' and is a Crane shot. The shot is used to show the mass of the zombies clambering on top of the tank that Rick is inside of. It is shot at this angle as it shows the full horror from the vertical angle, as they look like ants crawling and writhing all over each other. This gives you as an audience a sense of hopelessness for Rick as there literally seems as if there is no possible way of getting out of this situation alive. You feel empathy for him.

Zoom shot

This is from the movie 'Full Metal Jacket' and is examples of Zoom shots. The zooms in these examples are either zooming out of a character or in on them. Zooming out generally shows an important character and he others reactions to them, such as the first clip. The sergeant is the most important and the characters around him are doing as they're told. Whereas the other way around shows a situation occurring, and then zooms in on a characters face to see how they are coping or reacting to the problem.

Point Of View Shot

This is from the TV series 'Breaking Bad' and is an example of a Point of View shot. This in this situation gives a sort of secrecy or mysterious aspect to whatever the character is looking at, as it's from the point of view of the object that is vital for the story in each clip. Doing this gives an inanimate object a sense of importance, more so than the characters themselves.

Pan shot

This is from the movie 'The Shawshank Redemption' and is an example of a Pan shot, this occurs when the men are working on the land and Red has a voice over accompanying it. This just shows that even though Andy Dufresne is gone, life had carried on for the other inmates, Almost as if he wasn't there at all.

Tracking Shot

This is from the film The Shining and is an example of a tracking shot. This is used to create suspense as the hotel is supposedly haunted and the little boy is exploring it alone. Using the tracking shot on his back doesn't allow you to see his face which heightens the suspense as to his reaction to the young girls he sees before him.

Mise en Scene

This is from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, I'm going to analyse the Mise en Scene within this video.

Setting and Location- The Location seems to be in a charred forest set around a tea table. This suggests that something must have happened to make this forest the way it is, this also suggests that the characters the Mad Hatter and the March Hare are mentally disturbed or their mind have been 'blackened' hence them partying in such an awful setting.

Decor- The decoration is of the set is very juxtaposed as the world around them is charred and burnt yet the tea table is clean and not dirty. There is a lot of china pottery on the table and what looks like antiques, this may suggest that the Mad Hatter had a lot of money at some point and he bought these, and that these may be the only things they have left. The fact that this Decor is very juxtaposed against its harsh surroundings suggests the 'Fantasy' genre as it would be highly unlikely that the table would remain in such pristine condition, and it is also in an abandoned forest, people wouldn't normally have a tea party in the middle of a charred and burnt abandoned forest.

Body Language and Movement-  The Mad Hatter immediately gets up and walks along a full table, this is done without hesitation which might show the mental stability of this character as he sees this decision as logical. The March Hare pulls his ears and his eyes are twitching this yet again, shows that the character is mad and he sees what he is doing as perfectly natural. Alice at this point is very small, she is grabbed by her hand and hoisted up in the air, this makes her look small and feeble and not strong enough to escape from the Mad Hatters grip.

Props/Objects- The main prop that is of importance her is an eye that the Dormouse has attached to her side, this is because she plucked it from the 'Bandersnatch'. This is an important part of the narrative. The fact that a tiny dormouse has an eye of  ahuge beast shows that she is a courageous and strong creature despite her tiny stature.

Costume/Makeup- The Costume and makeup is very specific for this scene as it is very crazy, very much like the two characters themselves, Alice's is all loose and messy this shows what the character is feeling, very confused and lost. The clothes are quite Victorian Gothic a specific theme for Tim Burton's films.

Zoom

This is an example of the zoom camera movement from the movie 'Jaws'. This is normally used to focus into a character in this case it shows the fear on his face. This foreshadows the future events. He sees the people playing in the sea and he looks like he senses that something isn't right. The movement at the end suggests that he's going to get up to do something. The fact that he is getting massaged seems to make him look at ease.
